The Day The Rats Stood Still

In conjunction with the new KenuRif's crap; The Day The Earth Stood Still, I have decided to share with you about a story of annihilation of another species.

By the way, Do Not Watch that CanoeRift's crap.

Waste your money and waste your energy. Bodo mia show.

Anyway, introducing, the most hated species in the history of womenkind:

Rats/Mice/Tikus/Neowchu/Lohshu

Despite their failure public likability, Ikea still invested heavily in selling them as soft toys.

2 pounds satu biji

Comel?

I really wanted to buy one, put in Doris's car. Doris is the world leader in I Hate Mice Association.

But since I eat also no money, I decided not to do that.

The length of measures at which the I Hate Mice Association went to make sure the extinction of the race of rat in their headquarters, Doris's House.

So, the central committee of AntiRat from various parts of the world gathered in the HQ and started to set up traps.

Cruelly, they put peanut butter and chocolate spread together as the bait. That is so cruel man. They leave the rats no choice but to die for their lifelong love of peanut butter and chocolate spread.

Anyway, they managed to capture one, but they cant interrogate further as the subject died in captivity before the rescue team arrived.

Various witnesses had reported that the captive was once spotted in other flats in West Nicolson Street, fanning a wide speculation of the existence of various highways like M6, M8 connecting all the flats in the area.

Meanwhile, in London, the population of rat was reduced by one. Read the report here.

My Igloo

I am staying with random Orang Putih this year.

Quite central, just opposite Kampung Ah Lee, so anyone who maksiat there, I will know.

Rent: 300quid a month excluding heating, electricity, internet and stuffs. But the bills added up to be around 20 a month la.

Cheap?

It comes with a price, huge huge pricetag.

The electricity bill is cheap, because we seldom (in fact never) on the heater. Very seldom.

Can you imagine life in Central Scotland in the month of December without heating? Ha ha. Not that bad, but most of the time I sit in my kitchen because it is much warmer, due to cooking and laundry dryer.

The warm area, Kitchen.

Bathing is now strictly on necessity. Because unlike my previous habitat when showering was a joyful thing to do. Now, the water power is reduced, and your hand can virtually touch the window. Once I off the water, it takes 3 seconds for the coldness aura to sweep across my naked body. So I need to rush out of the bathroom within 2.9sec.

Only bath when necessary.

Now, my room. The traditional T shirt and shorts that I have been wearing at home since young is now no longer practical. I am on thick jumper, long trackbottom and socks everynight. And still, it is cold. Sometimes I am on scarf. Rarely on gloves, but I think probably need that in Jan/Feb.

Study is no longer possible. I usually go library to study.

I am sleeping using a technique developed 1920s called the Burgered Duvet.

I am sleeping in between two of my duvets, and I can still feel the coldness. Waking up in the morning is the hardest thing to do, because it involves leaving a relatively warmed encolsed duvet kepompong to cold harsh external environment. The best analogy is like when a baby is delivered from the amniotic sac.

The other day I check the temperature in my room, and I found out that, it is almost the same with, the temperature of the bus stop outside.

The best thing in my house is that my 4 Scottish housemates are all very funny and nice to live with.

Borders.

Some of you might have heard of me, ranting and ranting non-stop about placement in Borders, how boring was that and this and that.

I took some pictures using my phone.

From my room. (ala Ang, where got ulu, so many cars....) (ei bodo, u tot orang ulu kereta lembu kah?)

Borders General Hospital (ala ang, where got ulu, 3 storeys hospital building, standard wat..)

If u look at ur left, give u this 2 bukit buah dada.

On the right, padang rumput Ulan Bator.

Would you believe, if I label this:

Kampung Rawa, Yan Kechik, Kedah.

Pictures!!

If you are observant, you will realise that for the past 4 months or so, since I changed my phone, my blog has been largely pictureless, and usually use the pictures uploaded from facebook.

But now, pictures are back!! Coz I finally got hold of the usb to connect my phone to my laptop.

And all the pictures I taken since last time, can be blogged!

My Lunch a few weeks ago, before I was sent to Borders. Bourbon biscuits, 60p. Fanta clearance, 39p.

I still get a penny change from Sainsbury.

And bourbon biscuits can on average sustain me for 3 days.

Now is better, just scavenger hospital's food. Hehehe.

Do Not Kiss Too Passionately.

A young Chinese woman was left partially deaf following a passionate kiss from her boyfriend.

The 20-something from Zhuhai in Guangdong province arrived at hospital having completely lost the hearing in her left ear, said local reports.

The incident prompted a series of articles in the local media warning of the dangers of excessive kissing.

"While kissing is normally very safe, doctors advise people to proceed with caution," wrote the China Daily.

The doctor who treated the girl in hospital was quoted in the paper explaining what had happened.

"The kiss reduced the pressure in the mouth, pulled the eardrum out and caused the breakdown of the ear."

The chorus of warnings was echoed by the Shanghai Daily, which wrote: "A strong kiss may cause an imbalance in the air pressure between two inner ears and lead to a broken ear drum."

The young woman is expected to regain her full hearing within about two months.

Biar Lambat Asal Selamat

Laporan beta siap 2 minggu sebelum tarikh penghantaran.

Jadi, malam-malam menjelang penghantaran, beta senyum sahaja memerhatikan kesengsaraan watak watak kodi lain kerana mereka semua sibuk macam tahi untuk menyiapkan laporan.

Beta senyum kambing kacukan anjing sama depa.

Long story cut short, the next day I printed my report and sent to the office in time.

2 weeks later, ie yesterday, i realised i forgot to upload to eemec. Shitman. Hope they are not penalising me 5% a day.

In retrospect, I realised why i can forgot to upload.

Coz usually, I didnt sleep whole night, doing report.

The next day blowblow take a bus to hospital and continue to do.

2 hours before dateline, I will simply simply finish it, and then print, at the same time upload. It is just so routine.

Finish, Print, Upload.

Morale of the story, wahai adik adik,

dont buat pandai finish portfolio terlalu awal.

Merry Christmas!

The fact that Medical School arranged my timetable in such a way that having Neurology 2 weeks now, means my Xmas holiday officially starting.

Yeah!

No need to do anything.

Logic: Even if I study, I will forget everything after holiday. So a pragmatic approach would be study after holiday.

Yeay!!

Come, lets sing, Merry Xmas In Malaysia.

Edinburgh Zoo

My first visit to Zoo in my life.

Edinburgh Zoo

It was FREE, in conjunction with St Andrew's Day (sort of the National Day of Scotland, most of the tourism attractions are free entrance)

Normally the admission fee is 10quid for students.

I never been to any zoo at all. So, quite excited. Ha ha ha.

First, we saw this pariah dog stuff, which wasnt there at all.

Then the Malayan Tapir.

Then, the Lion King!

And the ferocious Tiger!! Ngaummm

Then, come a visual ability test. Bodoh! Like dat I also can open zoo la. Put one cage there. Then, put one board, Welcome to the Cage of Dinoangsaurus. It is an extremely shy dinosaur, spot it if you can.

Cannot see anything also.

There is a cage of zookeepers only.

Then, the highlight of zoo: Elephant!! (fake one la...)

Hahha...

To be honest, they have some nice animals to see la. But then, those animals are like the ones in Madagascar. Either got depression or personality disorders.

Our Brother Lion sit like dat whole day. If wonder if it is someone wear the Lion costume.

Animal porn of the rhino.

Five Zebras. Some white with black stripes, some black with white stripes. Uniquely different. Haha.

Tiger.

The highlight of the zoo, the most valueble animal in this zoo, in fact, in this part of the globe.

I give u: AYAM JANTAN!

Malaysia Here I Come! February 2009!!!

Booked already.

Edinburgh - Kuala Lumpur; KLM Airlines.

430pounds.

Hoho.

8 February 4.30pm leaving Edinburgh and 2 February 11.40pm leaving KL.

Got 2 weeks holiday after Psychiatry+Neuro+GP, and skipping one week Senseless lecture, oops, i mean Senses.

And then James and I have to find the connecting flight back to Pulau DAP, what super surprised me is that the RM9 ticket from MAS KL-Penang turned out to be plus RM169 tax.

Wahlaueh, maximum punya con.

anyway, my KL-PG return will cost RM350, which in pounds sterling = 70quid.

when it used to be 50 pounds...

Great Britain Pound is going down down down like shit dropping from bird's asshole.

So overall cost for 3 weeks of hokkien mee = 500quid.

Arrrggghhh!!!

Not only the fact that the money I have now is smaller, to add salt into the wound, inflation is quite high as well in malaysia.

I usually read Economic news in bloomberg asia for the names of the tycoons, just in case I know the daughter and I can realise my ambition faster.

I dont expect to read this paragraph in Bloomberg at all:

"A McDonald’s “Big Mac” burger costs 9.60 ringgit while a Burger King “Whopper” meal that comes with French fries and a drink is priced at 13.6 ringgit. A “Dinner Plate” at KFC, with three pieces of chicken, cole slaw, whipped potatoes and a bun costs 9.80 ringgit, compared with 6.90 ringgit for a bowl of noodles at other restaurants.

Spicy Chicken

“You may want to eat less nowadays,” said Muhammad in an interview late yesterday. “We have a 5 ringgit ‘Hot Rods.’ It’s hot and spicy but on skewers, and it’s easy to eat.”

Lemma, that means when I go back, I have to spend 2 pounds on Dinner Plate KFC????

To read the whole article: Here

Shits!

But then nvm la. The more i think about going home, the more i missed home.

Penang!!! Hokkien mee mai taugeh ham ciu ceh ceh. Is it still RM2.20?

Now that I six packed liau, dunno my mum can recognise me or not. Ha ha ha.

Should we close vernacular schools?

To be honest, my answer is definitely yes.

I am from a SRK and then SMK, so my view might be biased.

But I find it hard to accept the arguement for vernacular school.

Why do we need vernacular school?

To preserve our own culture and language?

Am I less Chinese then someone from vernacular school?

What is there to be a Chinese, when I am supposed to be Malaysian anyway?

Why are the Chinese jumping around when they are not treated as Malaysian, when they are not aspiring to be one?

I dont want to offend anyone, but I think the position and the importance of mother tongue is now very different as compared to the old days.

When someone ask you, what are you?

Do you say Chinese?

No, you say Malaysian.

So be one.

We can still learn Mandarin and Tamil in national schools, we can preserve our culture still, but we need better national schools.

But then, before you jumped into conclusion, pls consider the other factors. Is closing down the vernacular schools going to solve our problems? Is national schools so holistic, so muhibbah that when we have all our students there, racial integration will be promoted?

Sadly, NO. A big NO.

The current national schools are not "national" schools. They are like BN, or Petronas, or any other government agencies, Malay-dominant schools.

I am not just refering to the numbers of Malay students. I am refering to the overall justice and fairness.

When is the last time we had a non-Malay principal in premier school? Penang Free School had one, 1980s.

Like universities, we have all the races there. But look, any Chinese VC? How many deans are non Malays?

Are the Chinese academicians are not good enough? Can the admin of the universities stand up and tell me that there is no racial consideration in promotion of the academicians?

Are students from current national schools more receptive to other races compare to vernacular schools?

Not a definite yes. Some of them are worst off. No doubt they can speak better Malays, but then, they are far from Bangsa Malaysia.

One teacher even told me that recently there was a student said that the teacher does not have the right to scold him because the teacher is not a Malay.

All in all, the question is not just on closing down vernacular schools.

We need to separate racialism and education.

may i repeat again incase anyone miss it;

We need to separate racialism from EDUCATION.

If we want to close down vernacular schools, but maintain the way national schools are managed, then I am voting for vernacular schools then. Am I making sense here?

Separate racialism from our young please.

Paperless Banking

This is probably the most idiotic planet saving thing I have done thus far.

As you know, during my one month holiday in the summer plus 2 months after that, I have no house to save some rent money. So i stayed in some other people's living room, empty room and etc. And theoretically managed to save around 900pds.

But no, coz the more you have, the more you spent, read - Motorcycle.

And now, I am living on loans from friends. Virtually forgot what is the meaning of Lunch, actually. Ha ha.

However, I still have 2 months rent to pay my landlord. 600quid, so where does the money going to come from?

JPA!

I am still waiting for some money that I claimed for my expenses from JPA London. I am supposed to get 600 from them, for my various clinical attachments, totalling up to 600quid.

But still havent hear from them, anyway.

I dont think they will read this post but well...

You see, JPA London is probably the most efficient government agency I have ever worked with. The emails are replied almost instanteneously, unless you caught them at the wrong time.

For example, during my first year, I sent my flights ticket to the office and I managed to get the reimbursement as promised, within 14 days.

But recently, I have got problem. I got an email from the office that I have to send over the latest bank statement.

and ladies and gentlemen, my latest bank statement was May 2008, because I started my squating life, homeless since then.

So I cant.

I posted my May one to them, but apparently they didnt received it.

I then scanned my April's statement, but havent got a reply, a month or two ago.

So I reactivate my bank statement, and managed to get the latest statement, the october one, and sent by post to them.

Hopefully it works.

I might not get the first 200quid coz they might interpret that as late submission, i dont want to argue as I am thankful for these extra monies, but to be honest, there is no requirement for the bank statement to begin with. My original letter from college and my claim form was sent within the time stipulated.

I am not pissed by the jpa office, I am pissed by my paperless banking decision.

SHITE.

thanks for listening.
